I am helping PCP with dx codes for HCC coding. Pt was involved in MVA years ago. Had hip replacement complicated by MRSA infection, had many hip sx's folllowing. Eventually had hip joint removed. Is it appropriate to continue to use complication code years later along with code for absence of hip joint? Appreciate any advice. Thanks

The way that I read your description is that there was a complication with the hip joint prosthesis and it was removed. I believe the complication has resolved. Is there a late effect due to the removal of the old hip joint?
