We are doing some research into concurrent infusions. If a chemo drug is given for 1 hour and a concurrent drug (Mag or K) is given for 3 hours, can you use 96413 and 96368 with qty 2 96366 for the additional 2 hours given. Does it matter if 2 separate bags are used. Any help would be appreciated.

In my opinion, you would either code the 96366s or the 96368. If the Mag or K truly runs concurrently with the chemo drug then 96368 would be the correct code choice. 96368 is once per day, regardless of how many different concurrent administrations there are. You would be misrepresenting the service if you use 96366 in addition to the 96368 and would likely be seen as upcoding.
