I was hired as a coder for a residential substance use disorder facility that is trying to start billing for their physician services. Until now, these services were bundled into the per diem treatment rate. We have changed the language in our contracts with our state MCO's to allow us to bill for professional services on top of our per diem rate. We have a separate medical NPI and Taxonomy that have been registered with the state, but are having trouble getting our payors to accept claims. I have never been involved in setting up NPI or Taxonomy information, or in contracting, however, I am working for a small organization that does not have departments specifically responsible for these tasks. Any suggestions or contacts that may have suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you

Sara Cowdrick, CPC
