Does anyone have any information on coding a diaphragmatic hernia that is NOT neonatal and not traumatic? I contacted the American College of Surgeons Coding Hotline & was told to use the unlisted code 39599. I have used this cod on a few cases but am not able to get payers to pay for it. Has anyone had any luck or have information on a better code to use when the patient has a Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia being repaired and it is not a neonatal patient and doesn't meet the traumatic criteria?
