What codes do you use to bill an ortho consult by phone with the ED.
 
Take a look at 99446-99449 & 99451. If your physician did not provide a written report to the ER clinician, then I don't think it would be billable.
 
If it was just a "call and chat" you probably should not bill it. If more, and all the requirements are met, you "might" be able to. You must be really sure all the guidelines/requirements are met.

A lot of times the ED guy will just call up the ortho guy for a chat and the ortho guy will see the patient in the morning or later that day. That's not a consult.
