If a provider outside of my hospital refers the patient for a consult, do they need to send a letter to the provider they wish their patient to consult with?

Hello

Yes he should send his finding and assessment of the patient to the other referring doc. if a inpatient situation he or she needs to document he has been called by doctor So and so to do consult while patient is inpatient then list his findings/assessment while patient is still hospitalized status.

I hope this information helps you!
