I am in a Urology group that is frequently called to OR to consult on patients under anesthesia for example due to inability to insert cath. Physician does a physical best they can examines GU system and documents that information is unobtainable. they perform procedure ex:cath insertion but is this consult billable?

thanks

Billing procedure?

If you are billing the procedure, then NO ... the limited E/M performed is bundled into the RVU of the procedure.

If you are NOT billing any procedure, I would use 99499 - Unlisted E/M and base my fee on the lowest level of applicable consult (inpatient or outpatient, depending on patient status).
