Should we be using modifier 32 for pre-op?
How about modifier A1? Is it being used?
 
Pre-operative services are not necessarily mandated in the way that the use of this modifier would indicate, so -32 would not be appropriate. Use the AI ("letter I, not number one), modifier for initial hospital visits and initial nursing home visits. They definitely are being used by the admitting providers.
