When billing a consultation code for a referral from a PCP within the same multi specialty group is a written report still a requirement since the PCP will have access to the visit notes?
 
Yes, you must send a letter back to the physician requesting the consult. The only time you do not have to send a letter is when the patient is seen in the hospital.
