I am currently enrolled in cpc exam preparation class but i am coding with the ortho practice i work for. I am confused about the new mdb guidelines for coding consults. Are we to no longer using 99241-99455 with all insurances or just mdb? Please provide me with any info you may have to help me understand.

Check the E/M, Auditing and Medicare Regulations Forums. There is a wealth of information there ... way too much to retype.

In a nutshell ... So far only Medicare has decided to not recognize the consultation codes (9924x or 9925x). In some states Medicaid has decided to follow Medicare guidelines. In other states, Medicaid is still accepting the consultation codes.
