Does anyone know if LCSW can bill consultation codes? I have not seen anything that says they can or can't.

No, they'd typically bill the 90791, psychiatric diagnostic evaluation. They don't do E&M codes, because they can't provide medical evaluations. Check with your payers as to what codes are billable by LICSW. Mental health services are highly managed, and visits usually have to be pre-certified by CPT code.

A consultation can be for the care of a specific condition or problem though. Pam do you have documentation to support this. I need it for my manager

It has to do with credentialling....LICSWs are not credentialled to provide medical care...so they can't do physicial examinations, which is a component of E&M. Check your payer contracts. That's the documentation you need.
