If I have two different oncologists ( in different practices) and they take call for each other, and the first oncologist admits a patient and uses the admission codes with the AI modifier, and then the patient is followed by the second oncologist do they code with the subsequent admission codes, or would this be a transfer of care?
The second oncologist is the primary doctor for the patient, and the only reason that the first oncologist saw them was because they were covering call.
Any help would be appreciated.
