Does anyone bill for providers office that has an anesthesiologist hired as a contractor ? He is not credentialed with any of the major insurance plans . He mentioned we can bill anesthesia services under our providers which are not anesthesiologists. They mentioned something about billing with a modifier telling insurance this is a contracted service ..

We have never billed anesthesia before 🥴

Thank you for your help

You would just bill the anesthesiologist under his/her own NPI. You may not bill anesthesia under another provider's NPI. The anesthesiologist was grossly misinformed.

You may bill out for the anesthesia provider even though he's not in-network. The only time he may not be reimbursed is if the patient does not have out-of-network benefits.
