If a provider starts out doing an aspiration, but he can't get enough fluid so he continues into doing an I&D, which doesn't work either, so he ends up doing an excision. Do I only code the excision since that is the furthest the procedures went or do I code all 3 separate procedures? I thought this was covered in the guidelines somewhere but now I can't find it. Can someone point me in the right direction? Thank you!
