I am consulting with a MD who insists it is okay to collect copays on post-ops - obviously I know this is wrong but can not convience the MD - does anybody know where I can find printable info on this - I am at a total loss thanks

Cpt 99024

"Payment" for the post-op visits is included in the payment for the surgery. This is part of the global surgical package. Any patient co-pay for the surgey covered those post-op visits in the global period.

Is he submitting CPT 99024 for the post-op follow-up visits? These have a $0.00 charge - how can he think he is due a co-pay on these?

Hope that helps.

I have to agree with True Blue. Post op is part of the surgical package thus the pt's surgical copay s/take care of it.
