We have received an order for CPT 70553, MRI brain W and W/O contrast. On the order the dx code provided is N91.2, Amennorea, unspecified. Also on this order it states the patient has E23.0 (Hypopituitarism). But that is not the listed dx code for the reason for the order.

There are differences of opinion on whether it can be coded out with the E23.0 instead of the N91.2. CMS doesnt have the N91.2 as a covered dx code for that procedure.

Would the use of this code be considered correct coding? no additional notes were provided at this time.

Thank you for any help.
