Hello all,
I am a research coding specialist and I know this is probably a coding 101 type question but I really just want clarification. I am reviewing a clinical trial protocol and the protocol specfically states what labs are to be done for patients that are enrolled on this study. In the protocol is states that a Chem 7 (BUN, CO2, creatinine, glucose, chloride, potassium, sodium) and LFTs (AST/SGOT, ALT/SGPT, ALP, bilirubin, albumin, GGT) . All of these tests (except for the GGT) are part of a CMP. My only issue is that also included in a CMP is calcium, protein and phosphatase. If these 3 are not specified in the protocol I cannot simply code the CMP, I have to code the specific labs mentioned in the protocol separately is that correct?
Thank you for any and all comments,
