I just took the CPB exam this morning and am wondering if anyone knows what the required passing score is? I've searched everywhere on the site and can't find any information.
Thanks!

I am just in the beginning of studying for the CPB test. I was wondering do people who took the CPC exam do they think this test was more difficult, less difficult, or about the same as the CPC exam
I was wondering the same thing about this. If the CPB is harder than the CPC??I am just in the beginning of studying for the CPB test. I was wondering do people who took the CPC exam do they think this test was more difficult, less difficult, or about the same as the CPC exam
Hey Susan,I think it depends on your background knowledge.
The CPB is a challenging exam. When I took it, I already had years of experience with billing related information (interpreting EOBs, LCDs, etc.). It was fine for me. There were a few questions that were tricky to me, but I passed the first time.
However, I could see where it might be potentially more difficult than the CPC for someone who didn't have any billing-related experience.
Hey Susan,
Could you pls share where to find the local chapter in lexington ,ky? Thank you.
Thank you for getting back to me Susan, appreciate it. I tried looking it up initially through forum and noticed I'd been assigned to Florence, Ky. I switched to Lexi, and nothing happened. I guess I will try the link you forwarded. Also, while we are at it, any ideas on how CPB exam is scored? Is it the overall percentage or scored individually based on each section? I can't find anything on AAPC website. Shikha.Hello!
Yes. you can find information for any local chapter through the Find a Chapter section of the AAPC website: https://www.aapc.com/localchapters/find-local-chapter.aspx
If you filter by Kentucky, you’ll see a list of all the chapters in the state (including Lexington) along with their upcoming events. When you’re logged into the AAPC website, you’ll also be able to view the contact information for the chapter’s officers.
Just a quick note: if a chapter doesn’t currently have events listed, it doesn’t always mean nothing is planned. The website only shows events once the CEU application has been submitted and approved. Chapters may still have meetings in the works, so it’s always a good idea to reach out directly to the officers for more details.

Thank you so much Susan. I will definitely look into it. Have a great week ahead.AAPC exams are 70% or higher. It's not broken down by section.
The CPB exam is 135 questions, so you need to answer at least 95 questions correctly to pass.
With the link that I provided above, you can look up the information for any chapter in any state. It doesn't have to be the chapter assigned in your profile.
If you're on the Lexington roster, you should be getting the automated emails that go out with meeting reminders. However, I'd take a look at the Email/Mail preferences section of your member profile - if you've unchecked the option to receive those automated emails, that could be one explanation. (It's also possible that chapter doesn't use the automated reminders option when they set up a meeting on the website.)

Susan, I just thought of one more thing. Do I need to buy new books for 2026 and study those to give my CPB exam or can I use 2025 and repeat?Thank you so much Susan. I will definitely look into it. Have a great week ahead.
