Certified Professional Coder (Bloomfield, NJ)
We are looking for a Certified Coder in the Essex County area. This position reports directly to the AVP, Operations for a physician and hospital billing company. To qualify for this position, you must have a strong knowledge of specialty coding to analyze patient medical records, ensuring documentation by providers conforms to procedural requirements. You will also handle the following:
Assign specified codes to medical diagnosis and/or clinical procedures
Analyze and interpret patient medical records within an area of medical/clinical specialty in order to determine amount and nature of billable services
Maintain pre-defined productivity and performance measures, to maximize accurate reimbursement and accelerate cash collections.
Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel
To qualify for this position you must meet the following:
High School diploma or GED required, certification (CPC) required.
Ability to gather data, compile information in an organized fashion.
Knowledge of current and developing issues and trends in medical coding procedures.
Knowledge of medical coding procedures, systems, and regulatory issues within multi-specialties.
Knowledge of anatomy and physiology.
Ability to use independent judgment to manage and impart confidential information and clearly communicate medical information to professional practitioners.
Comprehensive knowledge and demonstrated competency in the following areas: CPT/ICD-9 Codes and Medical Billing Terminology -- CPC Preferred; Workflow Management, Practice Management and/or Medical Billing Information Systems; Payer Documentation Standards; Medicare and Medicaid Reimbursement Requirements,
