Can anyone tell me what location code should be used for Telemedicine? Should it be the location of the rural hospital where the patient is or should it be the location where the doctor is? This is new to me and a bit confusing!
 
If it is an office/outpatient visit, you can use your office location with the Telemed modifier on the E/M code. However, if the patient is inpatient, you need to use an IP location and the correct IP codes. CMS has the new Telemed IP consult codes this year, both initial and follow up. I hope this helps!
