I work for an FQHC and we have the CPSP program. Normally we would bill a Z1034 for subsequent OB visits but this encounter the patient is being seen for a suspected spontaneous abortion where testing is being done to confirm. While this visit may still be billable under Z1034, would any subsequent visits be covered or would those be billed as office visits?

Wondering if anyone has been in similar circumstances. Advice is greatly appreciated.

I would think if the testing confirms she miscarried, you wouldn't be able to use Z1034 for that visit, because she's not pregnant. I'd use the ultrasound code. Subsequent visits for any complications related to the miscarriage would be an office visit.

Thank you. Since this first visit is the testing to confirm though the ultrasound is inconclusive which is why it's "suspected" at the moment. Thank you for confirming the follow-up :)

I have a question regarding CPSP visits. I work for an FQHC in California. We see both commercial and medi-cal patients for CPSP visits. Are you billing commercial insurance for these visits and if so are they paying?
