Hello, is it appropriate for a chest that is left open after lvad and physician goes in for closure and removing pericardial packing and evacuation of hematoma to use cpt 35820-58 Exploration for postoperative hemorrhage, thrombosis or infection; chest ?

I think the key here is he is removing hematoma, that is what makes CPT 35820 fit? Also staged procedure since the chest is being left open, sometimes they do this for two days after lvad (closed on 3rd day), so 35820-58 each day?

Thank you,
