If provider goes in through mouth and states in report that he advanced to the Duodenum, but in his findings, only reflect findings of the esophagus, should 43237 be reported or 43231? CPT 2022 pg 354 states to report 43237 with mod 52 when no clinical judgment is made for duodenum, but AAPC article also states if only the esophagus is examined then 43231 is appropriate. May someone advice?

Hello,
My thoughts are that what you are referring too would be for 43235 as code description is EGD; however, the 43237 states that the EUS(endoscopic ultrasound) be limited to esophagus, stomach, OR duodenum.
