Two questions.. 1) I can not find any information on how much time Medicare allows for outpatient mental health therapy cpt 90837 per week, I thought it was one hour per week limit, but I can not locate any documentation. (FL Medicare) but guessing same everywhere.
2) If it is one hour, is it per week, or per 7 days?
Thanks

Unless something has changed since I left mental health, there are no limits, just medical necessity. Someone in crisis may need to be seen twice in one week; most people who are in psychotherapy are seen once per month. If someone is in group psychotherapy, that group may be once a week, twice a week (one PhD I worked for did group therapy twice a week for 8 weeks for patients with chronic pain; he had a set schedule of topics), or even once a month.

This MLN document has good info - click me.
