Looking for any feedback on the usage of 99072 (Additional supplies, materials, and clinical staff time over and above those usually included in an office visit or other non-facility service(s), when performed during a Public Health Emergency as defined by law, due to respiratory-transmitted infectious disease). Has anyone use it and if so what carriers are paying for this code? Thanks for any and all input!

I am also looking for information on 99072. I work in a Pediatric primary care office, looking into billing this code. Has anyone gotten information from particular payers if it will be paid/covered? What rate are you billing for this code?

So far most payers are either not recognizing the code or not reimbursing for the code. Our BCBS (Alabama) rep said they would not reimburse for it and will always bundle it with any other code billed. The only payer we have seen reimbursement with is Aetna. We billed $20 and they reimbursed $6.00.

We billed it to Aetna and they bundled but BCBS is allowing $50.00. Medicare now has it loaded in the fee schedule but no reimbursement yet.
