Hi Fellow coders. I have a physician that performed a diagnostic laparoscopy/right adnexal mass removal, collection of pelvic washings for torsion of right paraovarian mass. I have been reviewing my cpt book and came across cpt code 58662 that i am gearing towards. But when I review 49320 but I know with this surgical laparoscopy always includes diagnostic laparoscopy. I am stuck between both codes. Can anyone please help me. I would appreciate any guidance.
 
If your provider excised a mass from the right adnexa via laparoscopy, 58662 would be the correct code.
58662 Laparoscopy, surgical; with fulguration or excision of lesions of the ovary, pelvic viscera, or peritoneal surface by any method
49320 Laparoscopy, abdomen, peritoneum, and omentum, diagnostic, with or without collection of specimen(s) by brushing or washing (separate procedure)
49320 is bundled/included and would not be billed separately.
