When billing for a Trabeculectomy with Express Shunt are we to bill 66170 & 66183 to Medicare or just the 66183? I know there are HCPCS codes such as L8612 & C1783, are they billed as well? Attach any modifiers? Help!
 
Checking NCCI, 66170 & 66183 are considered mutually exclusive so 66183 only. Whether the L code should be billed I'll let someone more familiar answer. C code would not be used as that's for facilities under OPPS.
