Dear mates,

We are getting denial for code 77002 as no insurance is paying this code

can anyone confirm whether this code is payale with 20610 or any other code or we should adjust this?

Hi there, even though it is OK to report fluoro with joint injection/aspiration codes that are without ultrasound according to the CPT manual, you should check your payer policies to see if it allows other forms of imaging for this service. Back when the injection/aspiration codes were split into with and without ultrasound I asked some coding veterans whether it would be OK to bill the without codes with fluoro. They all said it would likely trigger denials because the procedure is usually done with ultrasound.

You should also see whether the payer places other limits on imaging. For example, depending on the service the provider may have to be able to show they tried and failed to perform it without imaging first.
