If #1 Doctor in the practice code's 99291 for January 10th, 2008 can Doctor 2 form the same practive code the same patient with 99291 for January 10th, 2008 for his visit?

They are seeing the same patient on the same day different times of the day, would modifier 77 work for this type of scenario?

Thanks:)

is the patient inpatient ?? what about a consults ?? i think we need a lil more detail on the doctors and where the patients are, as far as outpatient settings

Yes. The patients are inpatient.

Consult was billed previously by Dr. 1

Dr. 1 billed the following:

Date of service 1/10/08 99291 (Dr. 1 seen the patient on 1/10/08 at 10:00 a.m)

Dr. 2 billing the folling:
Date of service 1/10/08 99291 (Dr. 2 seen the patient on 1/10/08 at 3:00 p.m)

Would moifier 25 be billed? Not 77 it was a crazy day when I posted the message, I meant 25:)

Dr. 1 1/10/2008 99291 , 25
Dr. 2 1/10/2008 99291

Thanks:)
