Wiki critical care codes and global

Doctor billed gallbladder surgery which has 90 day global and then a few days later patient went into acute respiratory failure and doctor billed a critical care code (time was documented). Would the critical care be considered part of the post op period or would you be allowed to add 24 mod to support billing?

We bill the critical care with the -24 modifier. Their stay in the Critical Care unit is outside the scope of normal surgical recovery and should be covered.
