i have a case where an anesthesiologist is supervising a CRNA for only the begining of the case. would the CRNA get the QX or QZ mod both technically apply?

It's my understanding that you can only bill for supervision if the supervision lasted the entire duration. I'd say the QZ is more appropriate.

i forgot to mention this is a trauma hospital in califirnia dont all CRNA's need to be supervised at the begining of the case?

Many states do not require physician supervision for a CRNA. CA is one of them. I don't know if Trauma hospital makes a difference or not. So QZ would be the Mod if there was no physician supervision

Heres a map of states that do or dont require CRNA supervision.
