I need opinions on something that seems to be happening more frequently with my doctors. A patient has a lung nodule that is scheduled for surgery to have the mass removed. Patient comes to IR and has a CT Guided Injection of the radionuclide being used for the nuclear medicine tumor localization scan - then goes to Nuclear medicine for the scan, and subsequently to surgery after it is deemed that the mass intended is that which has been injected.

As I read it, the injection would be inclusive to the Nuclear Medicine scan - but it seems as though we are providing much more than would typically be done for this procedure.

Any thoughts, suggestions or opinions would be appreciated.
