Our Trauma ER frequently orders CT Chest/Abdomen/Pelvis and requests we reformate a lumbar spine from the raw data. We do not expose the patient to more radiation. We do not charge the CT lumbar spine but the images and dication are in PACS. What can we charge for?
 
I work on records reviews of personal injury cases and have seen CT "reports" of brain, cervical spine, thoracic spine, lumbar spine, pelvis, and chest with "billed charges" for each body part. One hospital charged over $90K for three CT scans....follow the money....
