When does cerebrovascular accident become history of cerebrovascular accident?

Unlike a MI, a CVA does not have a set time limit of when it goes from acute to history. That is for the physician to determine. If the patient has residual late effects (such as hemiplegia) you would code that, rather than a history of a CVA.
