Hi everyone,

New to billing and there was a patient who had the local area of their cyst numbed with 1% xylocaine using a 30 gauge needle and a #11 blade pus and other causeous material was drained from the cyst and irrigated with betadine and then packed with gauze and a bandage. How would I code this?

Hi Such78,

It is on the left side mid back.

Thank you - it wasn't clear to me in the note so I was waiting on the physician to get back to me.

Take a look at 10060 - Incision and drainage of abscess (eg, carbuncle, suppurative hidradenitis, cutaneous or subcutaneous abscess, cyst, furuncle, or paronychia); simple or single.
