My doc did a D & C for bleeding (postpartum) as an out patient. There was prolonged monitoring for 4 hours and 3 trips to recovery checking on patient who continued to cleed. She was finally admitted as in patient and the discharged the following day. Is there any way to bill for her additional time observing the patient beside just billing for the D&C?
