My physician excised a large gluteal mass (10 x 12 x 8) 3 years ago on a patient. She is now having trouble with the scar. He wants to do a scar revision in the gluteal area. I cannot find any code to match this. There is a code for an excision of a mass but not a scar revision. Anybody have any answers? I really would appreciate it. :confused:

Hello,
Usually within one year after mass excision, the doctor will perform a scar revision. Three years after they may still do a z-plasty if there is a requirement for revision. They repeat z-plasty, upto 2-3 years to improve skin condition.
For Z-plasty, depending on the size and location, can use cpt codes 14000 - 14061;

Regards,
LMohan
