Good Morning, I have seen several news reports in regards to abbreviating the year 2020. Law enforcement officials are highly discouraging people from abbreviating 2020 to '20 because people can easily write 19 at the end of it. From a compliance stand point, when patients are signing documents should we have them use the full year?

Certainly not legal advice, but my own personal opinion. I ALWAYS write out the full date on anything - today is 01/07/2020. Even writing the full year without all month/day digits makes altering easier, if that is your concern. For example 1/7/2020 could easily become 11/7/2020 or 1/17/2020 by adding a 1. If someone wants to commit fraud, they will find a way. There is no law that requires an 8 digit date on medical forms that I've ever heard of, but it's certainly good practice.
