The procedure is I&D of wound. Specimen received is a reasonably large piece of hemorrhagic soft tissue (let's say 4x3x1cm in aggregate) with the label "r/o bacterial vs. vascular." Debridement or bx (Soft tissue other than tumor/mass/lipoma/debridement) from a pathological point-of-view?

Thanks in advance.

I would keep it 88304 (debridement). The procedure that obtained the specimen was neither a biopsy or small excision. Which how I look at it would rule out using (Soft Tissue, Other Than Tumor/Mass/Lipoma/Debridement) 88305.
