Hello - would this be included in the E/M since it's not cerumen?
EARS: Auricles reveal no mass or lesions. The bilateral ears
were examined under binocular microscopic visualization. On of the right he was noted to have significant exudate suggestive of persistent otitis externa. This was limiting view of the external canal, tympanic membrane and middle ear. This prompted debridement. Using a 7 and 5 suction this was debrided clear.
The left: External canals revealed mild exostosis. External auditory canal was clear of cerumen. No new or old blood noted. Tympanic
membrane were clear, intact, and mobile. SRTs were evident
bilaterally and appeared grossly normal. The patient was able to
insufflate the middle ear with a pinched nose valsalva maneuver without difficulty.
