Can anyone help with this? Since mesh was applied I'm thinking 15002 with 15271, 15272 x 2. Not sure if we can use the wound care codes with the mesh application.

The patient had a wound of the left buttocks from which a chronic ulceration, granuloma was excised. The previous excision was performed approximately a week ago. The patient developed subsequent cellulitis and purulent drainage. Cultures demonstrated Methicillin
Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus. The wound extended approximately 15 cm in length. The excision extended down to near the gluteal fascia. Upon removal of all sutures, the wound had a moderate degree of exudative fibrous margins which were able to be satisfactorily debrided with grasping. Following satisfactory debridement, the wound was treated with porcine mesh powder and with a sheet of porcine mesh was put in place and secured deep to the fascia with a Vicryl suture. The margins were also secured laterally. The mesh will be maintained on a long term basis. A porcine mesh approximately 15 x 10
cm was utilized.

The 15271 code is for external use only. There is currently no code for the implantation of mesh in things other than with ventral hernias. For implantation in this case I would suggest the unlisted code 20999.
