I have a PT that does outpatient wound care and I'm trying to figure out if they are allowed to charge 97597 (& 97598) with 97605 or 97606. Does anyone know what the current regulations on this are? I was thinking if I could use them with modifier 59, it might work.
 
Modifier 59 will 'work' to unbundle these, however it does have to be supported by documentation (e.g. that the wound vac service is for different site, different, different provider, etc., from the debridement service). If it is for the same wound and done at the same encounter, then most likely the modifier 59 is not appropriate.
