My doctor billed 11042 for lower extremity and had to discontinue the procedure due to the pt being hypotensive and needed to go back to ICU. The next day pt was brought back to OR and he continued with the
debridement of the lower extremity and billed 11045. My question is can I use mod 53 on the 11042 and will the 11045 be paid being that it was billed the next day and does not have the primary code
billed with it on the same day, since it was billed the day before. Hope this makes sense. Thanks for any input you can give me.
