What date of service should be used for a delivery in the OR that starts before midnight on one day, but is not completed until after midnight? I would think that because the actual services of the delivery begin on first day that the dos would be the first day. However, since the surgery is completed on the next day and additional work is being done on that next day, it is a little confusing and would just appreciate a confirmation. Thanks.

The date of service that you use is the Date of the childs birth. The hosiptal should have provided a delivery summary that shows the infants DOB. I would not append a mod -22 unless the c/s had an unusual complication. Just becasue it started on day and finsished on another doesn't make it unusual. This happens alot in OB.

You could also bill for 99053. Good luck getting it paid.
