If insurance denies hospital admission, can we bill patient for hospital visit or do we have to write that charge off? We are the consulting physician, not the admitting.
 
You will have to provide a bit more detail as to the specific denial reason.........it should tell you right on the remit though. Typically, you can only bill the pt if it is considered by the payer to be pt responsibility.
That is why the denial reason is important. If liability falls on the provider, you cannot bill the patient.
