We had a physician in our ER do 2 procedures and we are stumped as to how to bill or if we can bill. 1) Conscious sedation 3 ml of intranasal versed was given. The 2nd procedure was listed as a Dental block with 1% Lidocaine and Epinephrine, the Right maxillary field block. Any help would be appreciated. I showed my consultant and she was stuck as well. Thanks

Hello srburk,

I would check your substantiated criteria for Medicinal section code range 99143-99148.
That also sounds like a service that could be bundled under the E/M-ER code. Check your CCI edit.
You might want to think about moving this question to the anesthesia or E/M discussion categories.

Just a thought.......
