Wiki Depression screen 96127-billed when only positive?

Hi! PHQ2 & PHQ9, the nurse begins the 2 and if positive the provider continues on with the 9. Regardless of the outcome, if the provider conducted the entire screening for depression, it is billable with no financial responsibility to the patient?

And what about the PHQ2?

We have begun to do this on an annual basis for all or our patients. Unfortunately, some patients get billed because it is applied to their deductible while some other payers do not cover it at all. I

We do bill it with modifier 33 so patients are not responsible financially and if they are we write it off. Although I am still seeking more guidelines when appropriate both the 2 & 9. Are you billing it every time you complete it or only when positive?
