Hello! Is it appropriate to bill for a phone call visit to report the Dexa scan results on the same day as the Dexa scan or is the reporting of the results included in the Dexa scan code? Thank you!
 
It is not appropriate to charge a patient or their insurance company when they are contacted with the results of a DEXA scan. This is part of the cost of operating your practice.

That being said, if the patient has a formal telemedicine or in person appointment, during which the DEXA is independently interpreted and the results discussed with the patient and a mangement plan elaborated, that is certainly a billable E&M.
