Good morning!
For dexas, are we to code strictly from the radiologists statements in the "impression", or from the T-scores? What if the impression only mentions osteopenia in one area, but the T-scores show osteopenia in multiple areas? Which one do we go by?

Thanks.

Sounds like time to query because you can't diagnose osteopenia - only a licensed professional can diagnose and if they want to get paid, they have to do their job.

The diagnosis should be clearly stated in the impression. If it isn't, query the provider. We may know what the T-scores mean but coding from them means you are interpreting results and diagnosing the patient.
