If a provider was informed by a patient that she/he sees an eye dr for their Diabetes Retinopathy and now provider is seeing the patient for Diabetes Nephropathy with a realationship with the diabetes retinopathy (but not treating it) do i code both diabetic manifestations or just Diabetes nephropathy?
 
Just the Diabetic Nephropathy UNLESS the provider was also actively treating the retinopathy.

Alternatively, I could see coding both for just that one visit where the doc independently reviews the ophthalmology report and concurs
